Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods won his 50th PGA Tour event today, shooting his 4th straight 66 to win the Buick Open by three shots. He is the youngest to get to fifty PGA Tour wins at 30 years, 7 months. Jack Nicklaus, who held this distinction before Woods broke it today, was 33 years old when he got his 50th win.

Tiger simply knows how to close the deal when he is ahead after three rounds. He's won twenty one straight tournaments when he's ahead by more than one stroke after three rounds. Put it this way, there are no closing 75's for Woods. He gets it done, period.

In ten years he'll easily break the PGA Tour victory mark (Sam Snead 82). Along the way he'll pass Nicklaus in number of professional major titles (Nicklaus 18). His 2006 numbers are as follows: Eleven events, four wins, one major and over $ 5.1 million in earnings. Greatness, plain and simple.
