We Said Hello Goodbye

Phil Collins sang this in 1985 and the first couple lines of the song are appropriate here.

We said goodbye to a dear old friendAnd we packed our bags and left feeling sadIt's the only way
We said hello as we turned the keyA new roof over our heads, gave a smileIt's the only way, only way

I bought this 2009 Honda CR-V when Ben was almost four years old as we needed a bigger car for a growing boy. It was a great car during it's time with us. I called it The Locker Room as you will see in the photos.
Ben played basketball and soccer growing up. These were his two sports. We drove to practices, games. We talked strategy, celebrated wins, talked about losses. Drove Ben to and from school. We spent a lot of time here. Ben even learned the basics of driving in this car.
As a family, we enjoyed several trips to Emerald Isle, NC. I drove it to Augusta National to witness two Masters tournaments in 2015 and 2017. I covered University of Maryland and George Mason Athletics as a freelance photographer. Think Johnny Cash, I've Been Everywhere. Bottom line: While maintaining it in a regular basis, this turned out to be  a great, durable and reliable car. We got our money's worth. I hope it finds a great home.
Parked prior to trade in. The Last Waltz.

Outside of work, 2014

The Locker Room

We had one more Locker Room photo prior to Ben's last high school soccer game.

Our new addition: 2022 Honda HR-V EX. 17k miles, very good car with a sunroof too!

Not only has Ben grown up, he is away at Virginia Tech and we needed another reliable car to get to and from Blacksburg, VA. It will be a great asset to us in the future and will likely be handed over to Ben as he continues his studies.
