Ditched By Kate

Friday evening I went to the Black Olive Sports Bar at the National Conference Center to see the band Ditched by Kate perform. Phil Rossi, the band's lead singer and guitarist, is a friend and co-worker and Friday was our company's Tech Fair. Ditched By Kate was part of the evening entertainment so it was great to see Phil and the band play.

Here is a description of the band taken from their website.

Ditched by Kate is an alternative rock band that exploded on the Washington DC scene in 2010. They have been winning over crowds with their unique blend of emotion filled lyrics and melodic riffs that can sway from blues to grunge to driving rock.

Each musician has spent a lifetime honing their own style which come together to craft memorable songs that audiences respond to.

After a year of constant shows and launching their five song CD Stumble, they are back in the studio writing and recording songs for their first full length album.

The band cites influences including:

Dead Can Dance, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Evanescence, Godsmack, Joy Division, Nine Inch Nails, PJ Harvey, Sisters of Mercy, Skinny Puppy, The Chameleons UK, The Smiths, 2 Bad Mice, Acen, Adam Ant, Aphex Twin, Bauhaus, Beethoven, Bonnie Raitt, Brazilian Girls, Catherine Wheel, Charles Mingus, Cocteau Twins, Coil, Costes, David Sylvian, Diamanda Galas, Disco Biscuits, Duran Duran, Echo and The Bunnymen, Eddie from Ohio, Einsturzende Neubauten, Frontline Assembly, Hope Sandoval, Imogen Heap, Indigo Girls, Inspiral Carpets, Interpol, Jane’s Addiction, Jeff Buckley, John Cage, King Crimson, KMFDM, Lamb, Lifehouse, Loreena Mckennitt, Loretta Lynn, Mark Lanegan, Massive Attack, Mazzy Star, Miles Davis, Ministry, Morcheeba, Morrissey, Peter Murphy, Poe, Portishead, Primal Scream, Prodigy, Psychic TV, Queens of The Stongeage, Radiohead, Ryan Adams, Siouxsie and The Banshees, Soundgarden, Squarepusher, Steve Howe, Tchaikovsky, Testament, The Afghan Whigs, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, The Sisters of Mercy, The Twilight Singers, This Mortal Coil, U2, UNKLE, Xenakis, and Yes
